In School Support

Here at Swallowdale we recognise that our children learn better and are happier at school if their emotional needs are addressed.

Swallowdale has one ELSA in post, Mrs Hague, who works closely with the SENDCo.

The term ELSA is used to describe a teaching assistant in our school who has completed a year long training programme with educational psychologists. This has enabled them to deliver bespoke interventions to support the emotional and mental health needs of the children in our school.

Mrs Hague works in a special room called ‘The Hug’, decorated with  murals painted by Mr Giampalma and  based on the well known story by Eoin McLaughlin. This provides a cosy and safe environment.

The sessions run for six weeks and Cat works one to one with our children.

For our children in the greatest of need, ‘Sarah the Counsellor’ is able to provide bespoke counselling sessions.

If you would like further information about any of our in school support, please call Miss Cross in the first instance.
